Minors recaps 31 Aug 05

Portland:
Tim Stauffer again failed to make it past the 4th inning, giving up 7 runs on 8 hits. He struck out 4 but walked 4 also. Greg Sain and Bobby Scales each had 3 hits. Sean Burroughs was promoted to the Padres instead of Paul McAnulty, although PMac will probably be called up after Sep 1.

Lake Elsinore:
Cesar Carrillo got reminded of how tough it is to pitch at High Desert. He was torched for 6 runs in 2 innings as High Desert beat the Storm 10-2. Michael Johnson led the offense with 3 hits, including 2 doubles while Bret Dowdy also contributed 3 hits.

Ft Wayne:
Brent Carter got his first win with six strong innings. He allowed just 4 hits and one run while striking out 5 as the Wizards beat Lansing 3-1. Josh Alley had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Matt Thayer had 2 hits and an rbi.

Neil Jamison blew the save and took the loss as Lansing would score single runs in the 7th and 8th to gain a split of the twin bill 5-4. 2b Kelvin Vasquez had 3 hits and Pete Ciofrone had 2 hits. Chase Headley singled in his first game with the Wizards.

Joey Delabar gave up 6 runs in 2 innings as Salem-Keizer beat the Ems 6-4. Will Venable, Javis Diaz and Chad Steiner each had 2 hits, while Diaz and Steiner both scored 2 of the four Ems runs.
